Kunzite belongs to the "Spodumen" family of minerals. It is characterized by a soft pink color, which it gets due to manganese. 

It is considered a precious stone that was discovered in 1902. It was named after the head jewelry designer at Tiffany & Co. at the time, George Frederick Kunz.
