Lapis Lazuli was first mined as far back as the 7th millennium BCE. Even then, it was used exclusively by people of the highest rank — kings, queens, priests, and healers. It was also used in Tutankhamun's funerary mask.

It was also used to produce one of the most beautiful and valuable pigments — ultramarine — which was prized by celebrated painters throughout history.

Today, the stone is more widely accessible and remains especially beloved among crystal collectors.

What is a Worry Stone?

The crystal is polished and shaped into an elongated, flat oval form with a thumb-sized indentation.

This shape is used as a support during moments of stress. In times of heightened tension, you hold the crystal between your thumb and index finger and gently move your thumb back and forth. This motion is known to ease stress, calm the mind, and support concentration. The practice traces its roots back to ancient Greece and Tibet, and was also used by Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
