Jasper is one of those minerals that expresses itself in a remarkable range of colours and varieties. It is a form of quartz and/or chalcedony, combined with other mineral phases.

Ocean Jasper is also known as "Orbicular Jasper". It is one of the rarer forms of Jasper, distinguished by its circular, orb-like patterns, and it appears in shades of brown, green, blue, yellow, white, pink, red, and grey.

This mineral was first mentioned in 1922, yet the exact location of the deposit was never found due to its extreme inaccessibility. To this day, Ocean Jasper has been discovered at only one site, and mining was only possible during low tide.

Since 2006, this stone has no longer been mined, as the deposit has been fully exhausted.
